A Busy Week for Molly
Thank goodness Auntie JJ came to visit. We really needed a extra pair of legs around to chase after Molly. She loved Jaime instantly though Molly hadn't seen her since February. Maybe Auntie JJ looking so much like Mommy helped a bit. Jaime kept Molly busy while we jailed ourselves in with baby gates and got a bit of rest here and there. All the baby-proofing we have left to do now is putting locks on all the drawers and cabinets. We're not looking forward to that since it will probably keep us from getting at, well, everything.Molly's crawling is improving by leaps and bounds...or at least by creeps and flops. She looks Quasimoto-like as she drags her right leg, refusing to put her right knee down. She's trying to skip the crawing and move on to walking, but not quite up for it yet. Luckily, she's figured out how to get around and take her toys with her...our little puppy.
At a visit to the doctor (18 lbs, 14 oz, 28 in, very healthy) last week, I told him that yes, she was crawling, but no, not pulling up yet. A couple of hours later I heard music coming from the living room when I was in the kitchen doing dishes. Molly can reach her little play table when sitting, so I peeked out to see her little head leaned over it, then went back to my dishes. It took a minute to realize how high up her head was. Yes, she was standing up, and looking very pleased with herself. She never even fussed to get down, though eventually she did fall. She's getting so used to it and doesn't even mind anymore when she goes "BOOM!" Such a sweetie, she even showed off a few more times that night when Daddy came home. Now she's pulling up on everything...furniture, walls, legs, toys, even the edge of the bathtub to go exploring.
Last weekend was so busy, three BBQ's in three days, that we're all still exhausted and planning on taking it easy this weekend. We'll just practice our crawling and standing. Maybe Molly will teach us to walk.
